About 1000 BC the simple man heard of the neighboring town and the next city. The far-traveling got from France to Rome and Jerusalem to plant his banner.
1500 BC the simple man knew the next city and also of Rome and Jerusalem. The far-traveling sailed for Cipangu and reached a New World, where he built up his crosses.
1900 BC the simple man learned from colorful, statistically correct maps about the five continents. The far-traveling aimed for the poles of north and south to stick his colors into the perpetual ice.
1960 BC the simple man saw pictures of far countries and people with strange faces. The far-traveling climbed upon the highest mountains and dived down the deepest ocean and sought to fly to the moon to hoist his flags in the space.
Today the simple man thinks to the end of the endless universe, but the far-traveling does not know which destinations he can aim at to set his signs.
The human mind made up for his body. Psyche beat physiology. Our inner eye can see over the horizon, where the outers fail. Our sight is endless.
